So what is Radiofrequency Skin Tightening?
Radio Frequency is a treatment which involves the application of an ultrasound gel and a warm wand piece which passes over the skin in sweeping circular motions. The wand gently heats the lower levels of the skin to approximately 40°c; this tricks the brain into thinking there has been a potential injury and stimulates a healing response. This, in turn, causes increased collagen production and tightening of elastin fibres. The tightening of elastin fibres is instant, meaning the skin appears tighter and lifted from the first treatment.
My Radiofrequency Skin Tightening Treatment Experience
I made myself comfortable on the couch and Holly thoroughly cleansed my face of any makeup. Following this she applied an ultra-sound gel to the lower jaw and chin area that she would be working on during my treatment. She then switched on the EndyMed Radiofrequency equipment, which is FDA approved and began to massage my face in circular movements with the wand as the machine gently warmed my skin up to and above 40c, which is the temperature required to stimulate collagen production and tighten the elastin fibres.
I would describe the experience to be something like a warm massage and completely pain free. After working on the left side of my face for approximately 10 minutes, Holly then switched to the right side and then finished the treatment by working around my neck and chin area. By the time the treatment was completed, I felt incredibly relaxed – no pain whatsoever!
