We are often asked, how long do dermal fillers last for?

There are many types of filler made from different ingredients.  The main thing these products all have in common is that they aim to fill lines and wrinkles and restore volume to your skin, thus decreasing the signs of facial ageing. When you use cosmetic facial fillers, you are literally filling in a wrinkle using a synthetic or natural ingredient.

Fillers can be permanent or temporary.  A permanent cosmetic filler will provide the patient with lasting results; which at first may seem appealing, however, this can mean living with the result permanently. Substances that are permanent cannot easily adjust to skin and bone changes that occur naturally and as your face changes shape over the years, permanent facial fillers can leave you looking a little “unusual” to say the least.  The temporary dermal filler products that the Suffolk Medical Clinic use, give safe, long-lasting results, which over time your body is able to metabolise gradually and safely, so eventually the results will slowly fade.

The Suffolk Medical Clinic will only ever use temporary dermal fillers.

 

So how long can our dermal fillers be expected to last for?

It is important to remember that fillers will last differently for everybody.

The facial dermal fillers we use in our Suffolk practice are:

Juvéderm^®Ultra, an advanced, smooth formulation of hyaluronic acid dermal filler for the longer-lasting correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.   It is the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler family developed using 3-D Hyaluronic Acid Matrix and Vycross technology, both advanced manufacturing processes that produce a malleable, smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, resulting in a smooth, natural look and feel.  All our Juvéderm® ULTRA fillers contain the anaesthetic lidocaine which promise a gentle and pain free dermal filler treatment.

Radiesse® is a long lasting dermal filler, which has excellent volumising properties. This is particularly useful when treating deeper lines on the face, such as nasolabial folds, marionette line, and in performing cheek and chin and jawline augmentations.  Treatments typically take around 30 minutes and the discomfort level is minimal.  The results from Radiesse® products are instant and long lasting but not permanent.

Our products can usually last anywhere between 12 to 24 months, depending on where they are injected, the type of product used, and other lifestyle factors, such as sun exposure and smoking. Our dermal fillers are long lasting but are never intended to be permanent.

How quickly will I notice my dermal filler results?

If you are looking for a beauty treatment that offers you instant gratification, then facial dermal filler treatments are for you!  The wonderful thing about the Radiesse® dermal filler products and the Juvéderm^® Ultra range, is that you only need to treat the area you are focusing on just once and you will see that our dermal filler treatments offer instant results.  You may have to wait a few days for any minor swelling to subside, but you will be able to enjoy the benefits of your youth rejuvenating procedure as soon the treatment has been completed.  After your first initial appointment, you will only be required to return for further treatments to maintain the effect, anytime from a year to 18 months later.
