Side effects and safety when having dermal fillers

Should I be worried about side effects?

Side effects are rare with the two types of cosmetic dermal filler that we use at our Suffolk practice, both of which have stood the test of time to be proven as safe and effective fillers that are highly compatible with the human body:

  • Radiesse a wonderful product that produces great results has been around for a number of years. It has an excellent safety record when used correctly and is FDA approved. Consisting of a synthetic substance made of calcium hydroxyapatite (a mineral found in bone) and a biocompatible gel vehicle, Radiesse is generally used to create jaw definition and fill in deep lines and furrows, giving you a new refreshed look.  It is also very successful when used in the hands.

  • Juvederm Ultra is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the second layer of your skin, the dermis. It can actually hold 1000x it’s own weight in water and is excellent at volumising the skin.  Approved by the FDA, the safety profile of Juvederm dermal filler treatments is very high.

Only use qualified dermal filler practitioners

When talking about dermal fillers, in our opinion, safety is the most important point to consider – Always ask yourself, is this practitioner fully qualified to carry out a dermal filler treatment?

If the answer is no, you should walk away.

To find a suitable practitioner for the dermal fillers procedure it would be a good idea to look at Juvederm reviews and also at Radiesse reviews from former patients, using their opinion and feedback. On most websites offering dermal filler treatments, there is likely to be a reviews page that is worth consulting. Try and find as many relative views as you can on each dermal fillers practitioner you look for, to make sure you get who you really want.

We also advise looking at a list of qualified practitioners, how long they have been practising?  their qualifications and the amount of experience they have. Experience is a very important aspect to concentrate on because though people can be qualified to perform the treatment, they may not have completed many treatments and therefore may not have the capability required to carry out the procedure well.

A fully qualified dermal filler practitioner is not only experienced in getting natural-looking facial injecting results, they are careful to avoid injecting into the face where damage could be caused.

It is crucial that dermal filler procedures are only ever carried out by qualified practitioners with plenty of experience within this field.
