Anti-ageing treatment procedure with dermal filler

An anti-ageing treatment proven as an excellent way of tackling skin that has become wrinkled, folded or has lost volume due to age or weight loss, dermal fillers are a versatile option to easily correct a number of the signs of ageing.

What happens to our faces over time?

Over time, the loss of Hyaluronic Acid within the skin means we lose some of the youthful elasticity of our cheeks, which makes them appear a bit saggy. The fat pads on our cheeks begin to slide down and create more pressure on our nasolabial fold; the line that connects the tip of your nose to the corner of your lips. This makes the fold more pronounced.   We lose bone and facial fat and as our cheekbones change in structure and provide less support for the overlaying facial fat, the fat begins to move down towards the lower portion of our face, giving away our age.

This is when the benefits of anti-ageing facial dermal fillers can help!

Dermal filler treatments offer a wide range of benefits, including a more youthful appearance.  As well as being affordable and non-invasive, this procedure can be tailored especially to each and every client’s individual needs, softening wrinkles, adding volume and smoothing out fine lines.

Our most popular dermal filler treatments include:

  • Dermal fillers for Lips – create definition, add volume, fill fine lines
  • Chin and jawline – enhancement and contouring
  • Nasolabial folds – the lines that run from nose to mouth
  • Marionette lines – the lines that run from chin to mouth
  • Dermal filler upper face definition – for tear troughs (dark circles and hollowing under eyes) and cheekbone sculpting

Before the treatment…..

It is advised that you stop smoking on the day of your filler treatment as this can affect the outcome, also nutritional supplements, diet intake, alcohol and anticoagulant medication and blood thinners (aspirin & ibuprofen) all increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.  You would expect your qualified practitioner to discuss these issues with you prior to treatment.

How is the facial cosmetic filler procedure carried out?

The procedure may be carried out in about 30-60 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated and the volume of product to be used.  The procedure for administering dermal fillers involves the filler being injected under the surface of the skin (using the tiniest, fine needle) to ‘plump’ it out from beneath, so softening the overlying line or wrinkle, or replacing lost volume.  However, although the process itself is relatively simple, it is only this way if the practitioner who is carrying out the treatment is highly qualified and knows exactly what they are doing. It is very important to remember that in the hands of an under-qualified injector, the outcome could potentially be very unsafe.

Is this anti ageing treatment painful?

Generally, pain relief is not necessary when injecting into the skin to correct lines and wrinkles. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area if its felt necessary.  Our anti ageing dermal fillers are also available with the local anaesthetic lidocaine included, for a more comfortable experience.

What’s the recovery time when having dermal fillers?

Worried about downtime? Most people like to keep their treatments between themselves and their practitioner, so another great benefit that this non-invasive, cosmetic dermal treatment offers is that the client will experience virtually no downtime.  You will be able to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure.  However, it is possible that you might experience a little localised bruising for a few days.  It is safe to use makeup, but you may wish to arrange your treatment for a time when you have fewer social engagements.   Patients can choose to have more volume should they wish after a couple of weeks at an extra cost. You can drive immediately after treatment, sleeping on the back is recommended for first few nights until filler settles into dermal tissue.

It is important to remember, as with any cosmetic corrective procedure, you still need to use well-formulated skincare products and sun protection (even when it’s cloudy) as part of the anti-ageing package that will keep your skin looking younger and healthier for a very long time. Our practitioners can advise you on products that they recommend using.
